Art Journaling

One of the most creative things we have done so far (to me) has been the journal page. It started off really rough the peices didn't seem to come together and it just felt off. But with the journaling we were able to cover up areas we didn't like and add to it and over it. In the end I really like how the ink + the magizine articles + the tishue paper all came together to make something creative. My theme I picked was outside so I just made it look like a garden with some flowers growing up from the bottom. I might actually end up using this in a scrap book :)

Did you learn new techniques or processes as part of the work for this project?
I learned how to carve out of a more delicate object (leaf) which took more patience and smaller movements.
Did you gain skill with familiar materials? Yes, I gained more experience with exacto knives which I've come to love!

Perspective

Did you try something that you weren’t sure about as part of this project? Yes, we tried out perspective. It was pretty difficult to get the 3D look I was going for and it took me a while!

How is this artwork about who you are or what you like? Its about me cause I drew a barn, and horses are my life and there is no place id rather be besides out at the barn.

Portrait

What issues are you examining through your artwork?- I have a hard time drawing realistic facial features.

Did you try something that you weren’t sure about as part of this project?- Yes! I can not draw Portraits at all, so I was very unsure how this would come out.

Art history

We did a piece by Frida Kahlo and she was in the Movement

Me- I got together the props needed and helped pick out the piece to portray. I also did the camera and the online info sheet. Worked on the power-point.

Caitlin- She held up the back drop while we filmed Worked on the power-point.

Tarra- She played the character from the photo and we filmed her. She helped write the power point.

If we could do it again, I would change the head prop and fix the power-point to make it longer.

+ Photo of the piece you recreated.

Paper Sculpture

Color Project

The theme we had for this project was creature/adventure. I decided to go with the creature and I had to figure out weather to draw a mermaid or a fairy. I decided on drawing a fairy with colored pencils.
I chose color pencils because I have more practice with them and I felt I had more control with them. The biggest difficulties was trying to not make it look so drawn, and give it a more realistic effect, along with blending the flowers.
It was much harder than I expected.

Finished

I thought I did a decent job. I am not very proud of the piece because I prefer the more realistic views and I had trouble making the girl look realistic along with the flowers/ background.
If I could change anything it would be the placing of the fairy, I do not like her splat in the middle, I also would change her hair and the background.
I learned how to not blend colors and how to blend them better. ( win loose situation)

" Two In One"
2/4/14
- I have incorporated "two in one" in my project by showing two different time periods of a bison. I have two images combined into one. One half of the bison is from maybe100 years ago, when the bison was alive, and the other half is his skull from this year.
-I have decided to use pencil as my medium because i like to have that black and white effect that comes from pencil.
-My main difficulty in this piece was trying to incorporate the two in one and being original.
-I think my piece was successful. I captured what i was trying to capture and I am proud that i was able to make it look so realistic.
-If i could change one thing it would be making the skull half thicker.
- I incorporated the "two in One" by showing two different time periods.
